Professional Development Opportunity for Food and Beverage Servers

Are you interested in helping update a national certification program for food and beverage servers?  Are you interested in networking with servers from across the country?

The Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council (CTHRC) is updating the emerit Certification Program for Food and Beverage Servers. We have recently written 60 new questions to be used in the Food and Beverage Server certification exam.  We have two activities coming up for which we need your expertise.  The details for each activity are listed below. 

Reviewing Written Test Questions

When:  Thursday, February 2nd at 1:30PM (EST)
Time Commitment:  2 hours
Activity:  During this web meeting, we will review about 60 multiple choice questions that test food and beverage servers’ knowledge, skills and attitudes.  During the review, we will determine if the questions are accurate, clear, relevant and fair.

Setting the Passmarks

When:  Thursday, February 16th at 1:30PM (EST)
Time Commitment:  2.5 hours
Activity:  During this web meeting, we will set the pass marks for the exam questions, making sure that the exam is not too difficult or too easy.

Who can participate?
We are looking for food and beverage servers who work in a range of settings, from restaurants to pubs and fine dining establishments. Preferably, you will have at least two years of experience, and have a solid understanding of the knowledge and skills required of food and beverage servers.

This is a wonderful professional development opportunity, where you can test your knowledge and skills as a food and beverage server, demonstrate leadership, network with other servers from across the country, and represent your business.  If you know any other servers who may be interested, please feel free to pass this information to them.
