Canadian Tourism Industry Award Recognizes Employers with Exemplary HR Practices

The Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) is now accepting nominations for the 2010 National Awards for Tourism Excellence, presented by the Globe and Mail. Online nominations must be submitted by Friday, August 6, 2010.

As a strong supporter of sustainable tourism through HR practices, the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council (CTHRC) is sponsoring the Award for Excellence in Human Resources Development. This award honours a business that has clearly demonstrated a commitment to professionalism in the tourism workforce through professional recognition, training, and excellence in human resource management. Organizations or businesses may be self-nominated or nominated by another party.

The application process for this award is quick and easy – the five questions on the form are designed to efficiently measure a business’ HR practices, the awards or recognition given to staff, any contributions made to workforce development, human resource planning activities and customer/visitor and employee satisfaction results.

The business or organization chosen for this award will demonstrate a commitment to reaching enhanced results through training and human resources development and will be recognized at an awards dinner during Canada’s Tourism Leadership Summit (November 1-3, 2010 in Gatineau, Québec).

The TIAC National Awards for Tourism Excellence were developed by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada to recognize and foster Canadian tourism excellence. The awards encourage businesses in the tourism sector to keep providing a diverse range of high-quality tourism products and services so that guests keep coming back year after year. By nominating a business, an organization or a person in your community, you can help drive this process, by challenging yourself – and others – to reach new heights.
